What is COPPA?
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), is a law that ensures parents may retain control over their children’s online personal information. COPPA imposes certain obligations on websites or applications, such as invisaWear, who have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information from a child under 13 years of age.
What is verifiable parental consent?
We are required by law to obtain verifiable consent from a child’s parent before we gather any personal information from the child. Because of this, we have collected your online contact information as necessary to obtain your consent and we need to verify your identity so we know you are really you.
What information do we collect from a child?
We require certain personal information in order to provide our services. If you consent to your child’s use of our wearable safety devices, we will collect, use, and share certain information about your child, including:
- Your child’s location. Our wearable safety devices provide your child’s GPS location to your emergency contacts that you select and/or emergency response personnel to let them know your child needs help. We need to know where your child is in order to provide this notification. You can also set the device to follow your child’s GPS location for a set time.
- Your child’s medical information. Our wearable safety devices provide your child’s health information, such as known medical conditions and disabilities, current medications and known drug allergies, to , if you choose to provide this information.
- Your child’s name and description. Our wearable safety devices provide your child’s name and description, such as his or her height, weight, gender, race and/or ethnicity, if you choose to provide this information, to your emergency contacts that you select and/or emergency response personnel to help them identify your child in the event of an emergency.
How we secure the information we collect
We have implemented measures designed to secure your child’s personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we work diligently to try and protect your child’s personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of such information transmitted to our services, website, or application.
Your right to access, delete, and limit the collection of your child’s personal information
You have the right at any time to review your child’s personal information that we have collected; to have your child’s personal information deleted; and to refuse further collection, use, and/or disclosure of your child’s personal information by notifying us. You may exercise any of these rights by calling us at 888-362-5512 or emailing us at support@invisaWear.com. Note, however, if you opt-out of the collection of certain information, such as location data, will cause the location-based features of our services to be disabled.
